Programming a New Key Fob in Your Ford Only Takes A Minute

How To Program Ford Key Fob Instructions Step By Step Replacement Dealership Service Kansas City Mo 1024x335

How to Program a Ford Key Fob

Here at Matt Ford we know that losing your keys can be quite a hassle, and while we are able to cut new keys and program a new key fob for you, we know that doing so can be a bit time consuming—especially for those who live well outside of the Kansas City area. For that reason, we thought it would be helpful to provide you with step-by-step instructions of how to program a Ford key fob so you can do it on your own.

One of the greatest parts about programming a replacement Ford key fob is that you don’t need to have any automotive knowledge at all. You also don’t need a ridiculous amount of tools or anything like that. All you have to have is access to the inside of your vehicle and your new key fob. So, if your only set of keys is locked inside the vehicle, you cannot just purchase and program a new key fob to open the doors and get them out. If that were the case, anyone could access your vehicle. You must be able to get inside.

Once you are inside the vehicle, make sure that all of the doors are close and slide the key into the ignition. From there, turn the key on and off eight times, but do not start the car. Just turn it all the way to the right and then all the way to the left, leaving it in the “on” position after the eight turn. You will know that the car has entered the programming mode as soon as all of the doors of the vehicle lock and then unlock.

When programming mode is activated, all you have to do is press any one of the key fob buttons within 20 seconds. Once you hit one of the buttons, the doors of the vehicle will lock once again. When they finish locking, all that you have to do is hit the unlock button to verify that the key fob is in fact programmed. If it is, simply remove the key from the ignition and be on your merry way. However, if you have a few key fobs that you need to program, start back at step one and go through the same exact procedure.

As we said, programming a new key fob in your Ford is easy enough for just about anyone to do. If you do have some issues, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We are more than happy to answer any questions that you may have, and we are even willing to walk you through the steps or program your new key fob for you. All you have to do is bring in your vehicle and your new key fob. Don’t have a key fob yet? Don’t worry. We have plenty in stock here at the dealership.
